HISTORY OF RAJASTHAN
Circa
2,500 - 4,000 B.C.
Traces of Indus Valley civilization can be found in the North West areas of
Rajasthan.
Circa 500 B.C.
Lord Mahavir- the great exponent of Jainism was born and Jainism gained
popularity in Rajasthan.
6th -15th centuries AD
Many Rajput warriors' clans came into being and later established
themselves as royal dynasties.
Mid-16th century
This phase of history witnessed many wars between the Rajput and Mughal
emperors in which thousands of people lost their lives. After that Mughal
emperor Akbar made some clever moves and established peace in the region.
18th century
Rajasthan was divided into a number of Rajput states whose rulers
constantly fought for power. The breathtaking capital of Jaipur and the
astonishing Jantar Mantar observatory was built in this period.
Mid-19th century
Nineteen Rajput states of Rajasthan signed a treaty of friendship with the
British and are now called Rajputana.
Post Independence
19 States are merged and formed into a single unit called 'Rajasthan".
RAJASTHANI PEOPLE

The
common people in Rajasthan are a bunch of hard working, simple and
god-fearing people. They respect women and treat their guests as gods and
that makes Rajasthan the safest place to visit in India. Though they belong
to the different segments of the society but respect each other's religious
beliefs and sentiments that gives a harmonious blend to its culture.
People in Rajasthan prefer to wear bright clothes with the lavish use of
silver zari work and gota. Tribal and nomadic women are known for their love
for exquisitely designed silver jewelry that add to their charm.
Rajasthan has produced some of the most talented people who have carved a
niche for themselves in different fields. Be it sports, economy, politics,
entertainment or business, people belonging to Rajasthan can be seen at the
top levels.
RAJASTHAN MUSIC & DANCE

Music
and dance are closely interwoven in the lifestyle of the people of
Rajasthan. All the regions of Rajasthan offer its distinct varieties of folk
entertainment. The dance styles and traditional songs vary from one region
to another. A variety of musical instruments are also used that add to the
diversity of its music and dances.
