Agra- the city of Taj Mahal is not just another destination in India. It is a place that was once reputed as the administrative capital of the Mughal Empire. The city finds mention in the ancient epic of Mahabhrata where it has been described as Agraben. The modern city of Agra came into existence in 1475.

Taj Mahal - the poetry in marble stands proudly on the banks of River Yamuna. The splendid monument narrates the tales of the true love that the emperor Shahjehan had for his wife Mumtaj Mahal. Topped with a huge central dome, it rises for over 55m, its height accentuated by a crowning brass spire, itself almost 17m high.

Agra Red Fort
The huge Red Fort was built principally as a military establishment by Akbar in 1565. Late, during the reign of Shajahan, it was converted into a palace. This massive fort is 2.5 kms long and is considered as the predecessor of the Delhi Red fort. The colossal walls are 20 feet high and the whole fort is encircled by a wide moat.


Itmad-Ud-Daula's Tomb, Agra
Nur Jahan built this white marble tomb between 1622 and 1628. The tomb matches the inlay designs and carvings that reach to perfection on the walls of Taj Mahal. The delicate marble latticework in the passages allows the light to enter the interiors. The Tomb is reputes as the first complete marble Moghul structure.

How to reach Agra
Agra has its own airport that connects it to all the major destinations in India. Agra is a major railway station in North India and is well connected by trains to almost any part of the country. Regular buses and coaches can also be hired from Jaipur, Delhi and Lucknow to reach Agra.
